FLSA: Full Time | Non-Exempt | Hourly

Scope of Position:

The paralegal position is the fundamental role of the production team that facilitates case management. Paralegals are directly responsible for preparing cases for submission and maintain client communication throughout the case lifecycle.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare USCIS forms and collect supporting documents for case submission
    • AOS, I-130, National Visa Center processing, Embassy Processing
    • 601 Waivers, SIJ applications, WAVA applications, Asylum, I-290B Appeal, Mandamus lawsuits
    • Removal proceedings: motions, pleadings, etc
    • No Employment immigration work is done, only Family, Removal, and Appeal work is done at our firm.
  • Analyze case documents for proper case preparation
  • Perform basic legal research on U.S. immigration and/or family law
  • Communicate with new clients and existing clients for case management
  • Respond to clients and resolve case inquiries within 48 hours
  • Document case management and client communication in firm CMS
  • Communicate with external agencies including USCIS, EOIR, and other agencies
  • Communicate with external persons including opposing counsel and government attorneys
  • Maintain excellent rapport within the production team and with other teams in the firm
  • Assist with administrative tasks, as needed
  • Other duties as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual communication skills (English and another language preferred)
  • Basic English writing skills
  • Tech savvy (Microsoft Suite Products a plus)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Positive Attitude
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage a caseload of 40+ cases
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Education/Experience:

  • At least one year experience in immigration and/or family law as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Experience in a remote work environment is helpful

Compensation: The base pay for this role is commensurate with experience/education, DOE.

Work Conditions: This position will perform duties under normal office working conditions, including the prolonged use of a computer, and office equipment, and working in close proximity to others. Essential physical requirements may include standing, walking, stooping, typing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
